28 December 2021, Tuesday

Today, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan held a New Year's Eve meeting with journalists. The press conference was held by Minister Alexander Shadrikov.

Welcoming the journalists, the Head of the Department thanked them for their active participation in environmental issues and an objective approach to the topic of ecology. "An objective assessment of the activities of any department and ministry depends on you. This year, more than 4,000 thousand materials were published in the media on the environmental topic. This suggests that environmental issues have long come to the fore among the requests of the population," said Alexander Shadrikov.

At the final meeting, the head of the Ministry spoke about the main events that were held on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the national project "Ecology". "This year Tatarstan participated in 4 federal projects. 3 billion 300 million rubles were allocated for their implementation, including over 2.5 billion from the federal budget. This year, under the federal project "Clean Country", we have completed work on the reclamation of an unauthorized landfill of rubber products near the village of Prosti of the Nizhnekamsk district. Now almost 240 thousand people have breathed freely. The landfill in Menzelinsk has also been liquidated.  570 thousand people have felt life changes for the better here," the minister said.

Alexander Shadrikov separately noted the work that began this year ahead of schedule. These are the silt fields of biological treatment facilities in Kazan. They now occupy over 100 hectares of land. The facility has already exceeded its design capacity. This year, the reclamation event was submitted to the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia for federal co-financing within the framework of the federal project "Improvement of the Volga" in the direction of "Elimination of objects of accumulated environmental damage that pose a threat to the Volga River". Already this year, work has begun on the territory, the deadline is 2024.

Work is also underway at the Samosyrov landfill. Additional funds from the federal budget – 173 million rubles - were allocated to Tatarstan for its reclamation this year alone. After reclamation, about 350 thousand people will improve their quality of life. An important stage of reclamation will be the installation of an active degassing system, which will allow the extraction and processing of biogas into electricity. Also , measures for the reconstruction of the BTP Kazan have been started. The facility is included in the top 200 major pollutants of the Volga. The estimated cost is 7 billion 142.7 million rubles.

"What kind of air we breathe, what kind of water we drink is very important for our future and for the future generation. After all, the health of our residents depends on the quality of air and water. We are implementing many important topics that concern Tatarstan citizens thanks to the national project "Ecology", - the Minister summed up. At the end of the meeting, Alexander Shadrikov thanked all the media represented by journalists for objective materials and a balanced approach and wished only positive news in the coming New Year.
