Energy and resource saving. “Kazan Arena” – the first stadium in Russia awarded a “green” certificate of compliance

25 July 2017, Tuesday

“Kazan-Arena” meets ECO standards. Based on the results of the experts’ inspection, the Kazan stadium was awarded a “green” certificate of compliance according to the criteria of “RUSO. Football stadiums”. The sports facility was the first in the country to receive certification under the Russian system. The award of the certificate confirms the application of the energy saving system, resource saving, and rational waste management, i.e. at the stadium a separate garbage collection is organized, and water consumption is reduced. To irrigate the adjacent territory, a stormwater collection system is used.
As a part of the certification, the commission reviewed working and technical documentation, current operation, estimated consumption and saving of electricity, water and heat, availability of the facility for low-mobile groups, and many other factors. It is worth noting, that the “green” standards, which prevent the environment pollution, were used even during the design and construction of the facility.
The main task is to conserve and manage natural resources to achieve sustainable development, which should result in reduction in energy costs for organizing and conducting sporting events.
Recall, Kazan was included in the list of cities participating in the World Cup 2018. The application outlined broad commitments in the field of environmental protection and environmental safety.
