Internet resource for development of "reserved" volunteering to be launched in 2018

11 December 2017, Monday

Internet resource for the development of "reserved" volunteering will appear in 2018. This is reported on the official website of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation. Head of the Ministry Sergey Donskoy said at the All-Russian Volunteer Forum held 4 in Moscow on December: "With the aim of systematization of volunteer work, we plan to develop an aggregator website to collect all available proposals, by the analogy with the "booking.com", until mid-2018. The Minister said that in 2017, the Year of Specially Protected Natural Territories, was not only a reminder of the anniversary of the Russian reserve system, but also a factor for the consolidation of public forces and volunteer organizations under the environmental agenda. According to him, in 2017 the circle of devotees of the reserve business significantly expanded: up to 1 million volunteers worked in the reserves and national parks of Russia. The most effective was the work with the volunteer movement in the Kronotsky Reserve, the national parks "Kenozersky" and "Taganay", reserves "Stolby" and "Polistovsky". Sergei Donskoy noted that environmental volunteering is not limited to the geography of protected areas. A significant place in it is occupied by voluntary fire brigade, especially brightly manifested itself in 2010 during the large-scale fires that swept the central Russia. In the first All-Russian action to restore forests in 2011, 200,000 people took part. For 7 years the action has become the largest social event, in which in 2017 more than 5.5 million people participated. Spring planting of forests, avenues and trees in the settlements became an independent direction of the volunteer movement in the country. In most regions of the country, actions to restore forests and plant trees take on an independent format of voluntary movements. Also, according to Sergei Donskoy, no less important area of volunteering is the cleaning of territories from domestic waste, garbage and metal scrap. So, under the Year of Ecology an ecological marathon "360 minutes" was held on Baikal, the participants cleaned the shore of the reservoir from garbage and landscaped tourist routes on the lake shore. The event under the auspices of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia was carried out, starting from July 19, 2017, by the volunteers of the Federal Target Program "Water of Russia" and the All-Russian volunteer movement En+. In total, more than 50 thousand people took part in the actions. As a result, almost 4 thousand tons of garbage were removed, 1200 trees were planted, kilometers of rock surfaces from Lake Baikal were cleared of inscriptions.
