Today, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted an excursion for students of the Department of General Chemistry and Ecology of the Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev-KAI (KNITU-KAI).
The children were shown the work of an automatic air pollution control station (AAPCS) and a mobile environmental laboratory (PEL). The head of the environmental monitoring department, Elena Zakirova, explained the principles of the AAPCS, told what analyses the station does and what opportunities ecologists have now to track the facts of exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations (MPC) of harmful substances in the air. The children were also shown an ecological map of the Republic of Tatarstan, where all the data coming from AAPCS and PEL are displayed online.
"Now you understand that it is the automatic sampling of atmospheric air and monitoring in online mode that makes it possible to quickly respond to exceedances of the MPC and take supervisory measures," Yulia Tunakova, Head of the Department of General Chemistry and Ecology of KNITU-KAI, explained to students. Let us recall that such excursions have already become a good tradition in the Ministry of Ecology.
