Rowan-tree, apple, cherry trees to improve schools and kindergartens territories. Ministry of Ecology summed up contest “100 green corners”

Young rowan, apple, cherry, pear trees, lilac, currant and gooseberry will decorate the territory of one hundred kindergartens and schools of the republic. The contest among kindergartens and schools of the Republic “100 green corners” was announced by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan within the framework of the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces and the campaign #ECOspring2017. Those wishing to green their territories could send an application in an arbitrary form with a description of the ongoing environmental education work. The 100 most active kindergartens and schools received today seedlings for the creation of personal gardens.
The goal of the “100 green corners” contest is:
- Development of children’s interest in studying the nature of their native land;
- Raising in children a caring attitude to nature;
- Extension of knowledge about plants;
- Formation of work skills;
- Attraction of parents and employees of educational institutions to participation and joint carrying out of the campaign;
- Landscaping of the territories of kindergartens and schools.
Ilkham Sabirov, the head of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, said that the ecological education of children begins with acquaintance with the objects of the nearest environment, which the child encounters every day. The observation of growth and development of plants and trees increases the interest of children in studying the environment. Thanks to this practical activity, the children will begin to appreciate and cherish the natural objects of their native land.
