In Russia, United Days of Protection of Small Rivers and Waters

Over the years, from May 15 to June 15 in Russia environmental actions are held, under the motto “United days of protection of small rivers and reservoirs” The initiator of this environmental action was the Network of Russian Rivers - a voluntary association founded on the initiative of the Volga social movement “Let’s help the river”. The organization includes more than 100 public environmental organizations from 23 regions of Russia. At the heart of the United Day of protection of small rivers, streams, lakes lies the understanding that harmony and environmental safety largely depend on water bodies. It is from them all the large water reservoirs of the planet are formed, they, gathering in a single system, form large rivers, seas, and the world ocean.
In the Days of small rivers and water bodies, it is carried out actions to clean up the banks of rivers, lakes, and ponds, plant trees, organize information campaigns, theatrical performances, marches in defense of the “Clean Rivers” projects. Year by year, the environmental action is gaining a larger scale. One-off events, from which the movements of nature activists began, gradually develop into long-term programs.
