Participants of the expedition "Small rivers of Tatarstan" were greeted today at the Locomotive beach Traditionally, the event ended with territory cleaning.

Today, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, members of the Tatar Department of the Russian Geographical Society, volunteers and active participants of the "BUDETCHISTO" movement carried out a large-scale cleaning campaign at the Locomotive beach in Kazan. The Saturday work campaign became the climax of rafting along the Sviyaga and the Volga rivers that started on August 16th in Sviyazhsky rural settlement. Members of the expedition made their way on canoe, and over 5 days they carried out monitoring of the state of rivers, cleaned the coastal areas and studied hydrochemical parameters of water. The team included 12 people: members of the youth team and the regional department of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan. "Today they serve as an example for their peers", acknowledged Damir Valiullin, Head of the Department for Ecological Education and Interaction with Public Organizations under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. – “Such campaigns and expeditions cover various territories, and it is the fifth cleaning campaign taking place at the Locomotive beach this year. Unfortunately, not all people are used to keeping the territory clean and respecting each other”.

Another large-scale campaign will take place on August 27thon the territory of the specially protected natural area Golubye Ozera (Blue Lakes).

 

Members of the underwater research team of the Russian Geographical Society will participate in rafting on August 16-20, 2016 along the Sviyaga and the Volga rivers to clean the coastal areas of the rivers at the starting and finishing points, as well as at recreation places along the whole route with the help of volunteers and local citizens of the nearby settlements.

 

An ecological campaign on cleaning of the coastal area will take place on August 20th at the Locomotive beach. The campaign will close the second stage of the ecological expedition "Small rivers of Tatarstan", a unique project of the regional department of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan.

"Small rivers of Tatarstan: is a multiple-stage ecological expedition featuring rafting along the rivers of Tatarstan with cleaning of the coastal areas and recreation places.The project aims at attraction of public attention to the problems of ecological state of rivers and development of the culture of nature use.

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as the members of the World Underwater Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan will join the final ecological campaign on August 20th.
