"It is not the first time I am visiting Kazan. I have started visiting the city since I started getting ready for the Universiade. I am familiar with the facilities. I would like to acknowledge that over the time all the facilities have preserved their good state and high quality application. The most important thing is that they are not empty. I am more than sure that everything will be prepared at a high level for the FIFA World Cup and the Confederations Cup", acknowledged Rustam Rabadanov, Deputy Director of the Department For the State Policy and Regulation in the field of Nature Protection under the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. "In 2018 we will host the World Cup, and the year after that - the Confederations Cup, and, of course, appropriate work of the system of monitoring and surveillance in the ecology-related matters is one of the components of success. Technical infrastructure of the Ministry of Ecology, stationary posts, mobile laboratories allow to immediately detect any violations or air pollutions and eliminate them right away. Assurance of ecological safety is one of the top-priority tasks for us".

During the conference on ecological support for preparation and holding of the FIFA World Cup 2018 it was acknowledged that for several times now Kazan has become the platform to host large-scale international events, including sports events. Here we can mention the Universiade 2013, the World Aquatics Championship 2015, as well as high diving competitions and others. "The process of preparation for such events is always of high importance, and it requires consolidation of efforts of authorities of all levels and areas", acknowledged the Minister for Ecology of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia for helping prepare and implement the Nature Protection Concept during preparation and holding of the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 in the capital of Tatarstan, and he also reminded that all the provisions and concepts had been elaborated at a high level: the events related to the development of the network for Kazan monitoring were held;a strategic shore protection campaign was implemented; a harmonious system for ecological surveillance was formed; modernization of the waste management system and transport infrastructure was carried out along with beautification and landscaping of the city.

It is worth noting that Russia's Candidature File provides for broad obligations in the field of environmental protection and ecological safety, including the necessity to confirm the conformity of sports stadiums with the highest international ecological standards.
