Scientists demonstrated to the Minister of Ecology the new modern methods and possibilities for the monitoring and research

10 November 2015, Tuesday

Today, the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev familiarized with the main directions of activity of the Institute for Ecology and Use of Natural Resources under the Kazan Federal University. They demonstrated instruments and methods of monitoring to the Minister, in particular, told about the use of the device RiverSurveyor that allows to measure the bed profile, velocities of currents and the flow of water in rivers and canals very quickly and with high precision. “The use of this method will allow to speed up the work on the examination of the bottom, geo-ecological state of water facilities and restoration of the ecosystem of water bodies, — acknowledged Farid Abdulganiev, — today, the Ministry of Ecology uses advanced methods for the monitoring of the environment quality, but, despite all of that, in order to ensure more efficient work, it is very important to arrange cooperation with the Institute for Ecology and Use of Natural Resources”. Moreover, the Minister was interested in the experience of the Institute regarding the use of air-photography that is widely used today instead of terrestrial field survey, which will allow to more operatively determine the scope and extent of extraction of common mineral resources.

The Institute for Ecology and Use of Natural Resources is involved in preparation of competitive staff members who will be in high demand in the Republic of Tatarstan and in Russia. The Institute carries out work with regard to the following top-priority directions for the development of science, engineering and technologies in the Russian Federation:

- Rational use of natural resources;

- Information and communication technologies;

- Biotechnologies, and technologies of living systems.
