The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan announces the start of the republican contest “ECOleader”. The most eco-friendly enterprises and educational institutions are invited to participate – whose task is to teach how to take care of nature, public figures who are not indifferent to environmental problems and, of course, journalists who during the year became real assistants to inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan.
 The works are accepted for the following groups and nominations:

Within the framework of the Year of Ecology and the 100th anniversary of the Russian system of protected areas, an exhibition of natural photography “National Park “Lower Kama” was opened at the Kazan International Airport. 50 photos, reflecting unique landscapes, rare and characteristic representatives of the flora and fauna of the reserve are presented at the Terminal 1A. The authors of the photographs are employees and friends of the national park.

On October 12 at 3 pm, in the hall of the City Palace of Children and Youth No. 1 of Naberezhnye Chelny, will be held the grand opening of the project “Eco-assets – 2017”, which is aimed at shaping the students' ecological thinking, forming a culture of handling household waste. The project is implemented by the Naberezhnye Chelny Branch of the All-Russian Ecological Movement Musora.Bolshe.Net in conjunction with the Prikamsky Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Students of Alkeevo branch of the Alekseevsky Agroculture college together with activists of the Young Guard conducted an environmental action in the village of Bazarnye Mataki. The object of improvement was the Stepan Krainov street, the hero of the Soviet Union. Young people broke a linden alley. The trees were planted in honour of the fellow countryman, who bravely fought for the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. “These trees will become a kind of living monument in our village,” noted the residents of Alkeevo.

The pit filled with sewage in the Podgorny settlement of the Bugulma district was found by environmentalists in July this year. Untreated effluents flowed from the local sewage system. Wear of sewerage treatment facilities and total absence of preventive measures by the local authorities led to the destruction of protected lands. According to the estimates of the inspectors of the South-Eastern Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, 1,200 sq.m. of soil was destructed.

To maintain a good sanitary condition of forests, the republic holds an environmental campaign “Clean forests of Tatarstan”. Today, the inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of RT and the Ministry of Forestry of RT inspected the territory of the Vysokogorsky district of the republic. They found an unauthorized dump of construction and household waste on the road, on the territory adjacent to the forestry.

International Conference “Underground Waters – 2017” will be held on November 23-25, 2017 in Yessentuki. The event is organised by the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, the International Association of Hydrogeologists, the Geological Center of St. Petersburg State University, the Eurasian Union of Subsoil Use Experts.
The conference will be attended by representatives of the government authorities of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the heads of large companies - subsoil users, scientific and scientific-production hydrogeological organizations, leading Russian geologists and foreign specialists.

A report on an unpleasant smell in Naberezhnye Chelny was received by the Prikamsk Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. Environmentalists visited the source of the smell. Inspectors of the Prikamsky administration found that at one of the enterprises of the Autograd, measures to protect the atmospheric air during the commissioning works were not observed. The equipment was tested without proper gas traps. In addition, during the inspection it was found out that the organization had not developed a draft of standards for maximum permissible emissions of harmful substances into the atmospheric air.

It has started receipt of applications for participation in the city stage of the All-Russian contest “My Little Homeland: Nature, Culture, Ethnicity”. The organizers of the contest are the Kazan City Education Department and the City Children's Ecological and Biological Center together with environmental organizations. It can be participated by students of educational organizations of Kazan aged 12 to 18 years, showing interest in studying and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of their small homeland.

Production enterprises and companies will be subject to penal sanctions for absence of systems for automatic control of emissions and discharges of pollutants, said Sergei Donskoy, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. The corresponding draft of amendments to the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses was sent by the head of the environmental department to the Government of the Russian Federation. The document was introduced together with amendments to the Law on Environmental Protection in the part of automatic emission control. The draft law provides that the program for equipping stationary sources of discharges and discharges at Category I facilities is submitted as part of an application for a comprehensive environmental permit.
