“For mankind, the forest plays three roles – ecological, economic, and social”. On the activities of the Ministry of Ecology and the Ministry of Forestry was told today at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers
Today in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan a videoconference was held. It was attended by Deputy Minister of Ecology of Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan - Chief State Inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of environmental protection Fayaz Shakirov and acting Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Emir Bedertdinov.
As reported at the briefing, these days in the republic an environmental campaign “Clean forests of Tatarstan” is held. It will last until November 15. This is the second campaign of this kind this year. In the spring, the territories were cleaned along motor roads and federal and regional routes, about 3 thousand cubic meters of solid waste, dead wood and fallen trees were collected and removed. During the complex of works on protection and reproduction of forests in 2017, measures were taken to reduce forest areas damaged by diseases, pests and other species on an area of 14.5 hectares. In particular, there was a continuous sanitary cutting (500 ha); selective sanitary cutting (1132.6 ha); cleaning illiquid wood (more than 5000 ha).
According to environmentalists, in the framework of the development of the priority project “Improvement of the Volga”, the Ministry is preparing proposals for the concept to include measures to afforest the banks of the Volga River in order to reduce diffuse flow.
The Ministry is systematically working on the creation, improvement and cleaning of forest areas and ecological education of the younger generation. Within the framework of the campaign #ECOspring2017, the Ministry held a contest among kindergartens and schools of the Republic “100 green corners”. The 100 most active kindergartens and schools from the municipal districts and cities of the republic received planting material for the creation of household plots. Young mountain ash, apple, cherry, pear, lilac, currant and gooseberry decorated the territory of one hundred kindergartens and schools of the republic. The goal of the contest “100 green corners” was the development of children's interest in studying the nature of their native land and the upbringing in children of a caring attitude to the forest.
Together with the organizations of the whole environmental sector of the republic, it has become a good tradition to conduct large-scale all-Russian cleanups “Green Russia” which also include planting trees.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 3,500,000 environmental lessons have been conducted in schools and kindergartens under the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces in the Republic of Tatarstan, where the forest is one of the main themes.
